Greg’s review published on Letterboxd:
I like this a smidge less than Vol. 1 because most of the Baby Groot stuff feels so "product placement." The third-act battle sometimes melds into the CGI slobberfuck superhero movies are guilty of, but Gunn punctures it enough with little side missions for each character.
That's kinda where my criticism ends, though. The found family theme that ties this ragtag bunch together is as strong as ever, and the film takes some big swings and mostly nails them. The narrative isn't as straightforward as the first and it trades some of the "fun" for more emotional beats. That's not to say Vol. 2 isn't fun, but it certainly has more depth which I really appreciate. I'm just a sucker for the found family trope, especially when it's done so well.
