Donnie Darko

Donnie Darko ★★★★

Science-fiction-y Bunny.

The film that stars angsty, emo teen Gyllenhaal is a paragon of finely executed filmmaking. The amount of felicitous acting that seems to never wear out is matched by nifty writing and enhanced by the proper use of its emotive soundtrack. It sets an ominous tone and a haunting mood for its otherworldly atmosphere with a mixed bag of concepts, ranging from time travel mythos to psychodrama. Scarily winsome.

Donnie Darko (2001) is like an excellently composed puzzle that doesn't end with its denouement as the clues stick to the viewer, urging it to be pieced together to form its cult-classic element.
