Grant Paulsen’s review published on Letterboxd:
“I thought I was passed that. I never thought I would feel that fear again.”
I’m going to wait until Friday to do a full spoiler review, because everyone genuinely needs to see this blind with no leaks. All I have to say is, as of right now, this is my favorite Batman movie. It has easily the best character arc for Bruce Wayne in any Batman movie, probably best character work all around. It has the best Batmobile sequence ever, best Catwoman, best Gordon, the Riddler is easily the best villain in a Batman movie. Robert Pattinson’s performance and all the acting is incredible, but Paul Dano man holy shit. He stole the fucking show.
The Batman (2022) is a 3-hour long crime drama, epic, neo-noir masterpiece. It is easily now in contention for greatest comic book movie of all time in my opinion. I can’t wait to see it again on Friday. This is easily going to end up as one of if not my favorite film of the year. And if it gets knocked out of my top 10 by the end of the year, then 2022 just might end up being the greatest year of cinema that I’ve been around for. I will write a more formal review on Friday when I’m not shaking and vomiting.
Matt Reeves, this just may be your masterpiece. You are an artist with a true mastery over your craft. Well done good sir.
