Judas and the Black Messiah

Judas and the Black Messiah ★★★★

Black Panther biopic. Stanfield is great as the conflicted, cowardly FBI informant and Kaluuya knocks it out of the park as the charismatic party chairman. One of those films that is so totally engrossing you temporarily forget it's based on a real story, then you read the postscript and it brings home what a fucked up world we did, and indeed do, live in.

One thing I have seen mentioned on one or two other reviews is the age difference between the actors and the men themselves; the fact the central characters are played by actors 10 years older than they actually were does them a disservice and takes a little of the gravity from the situation. Nevertheless, a total masterclass from all involved.
