"You break the rules and become a hero. I do it and I become the enemy. That doesn't seem fair."

Doctors Strange 2 was… strange. There are some very good things in this film, but there are definitely a few glaring issues for me.

This is definitely the weirdest MCU film and all of that is due to Sam Rami’s direction for the film. This movie is pretty bonkers for a MCU movie, and that’s definitely this movie’s greatest strength. The cinematography and visual effects in the film are some of the best in the entire MCU. The way the camera moves in a few scenes with the things that are going on that make it feel like a full on horror movie and they are glorious. Speaking of which, the horror aspect itself is amazing. This movie is definitely more violent than any other MCU movie and I was all here for it. The scene with Wanda chasing Strange through the blast doors was such an amazing moment. The acting and characters (for the most part) are really good as well, especially Wanda and her arc. Elizabeth Olsen puts on just as good of, if not better of a performance than she did in WandaVision. The action sequences are very cool and immersive except for that stupid music note sequence which felt extremely cheesy in my opinion.

Ok so all that stuff was great, however I have some issues for sure. A lot of people are complaining about the pacing in this film and I kinda have an issue with it? I liked the fast pace of this film, but I believe that both post WandaVision Wanda and America Chavez were very underdeveloped in this movie. Even though the rest of Wanda’s arc was great, I think we needed some more to start off with. And speaking of America Chavez, I was not a fan of her. Going into the movie I thought that she was going to be unnecessary and I was definitely wrong, but she should have been way more developed than she was.

My other big issue with the movie is how the Illuminati was handled. Yes we got John freakin Krasinski as Mr. Fantastic (and that suit is great), Professor X, and a pretty cool Captain Carter, but they were barely used. Strange met them then Wanda showed up then whoops they’re dead already. We could have used more time to really show off these characters instead of using them as cheap cameos. I don’t know it’s not too bad I just hoped we would see more of them. As long as John Krasinski again I don’t care too much.

Overall Doctor Strange in the Multiverse Of Madness was an entertaining movie with some fantastic sequences, but the movie felt a bit too underdeveloped in my opinion. I had a good time watching this but I don’t know if I will ever have the desire to watch this again.
