Fear Street: 1666

Fear Street: 1666 ★★

Throughout the first instalments of the Fear Street trilogy (Fear Street Part One: 1994 and Fear Street Part Two: 1978), the people of Shadyside have been terrorised by the curse of witch Sarah Fier - who was hanged in the 17th Century and has sought revenge on the town ever since. Whereas the first two films tackled different types of movies while they busied themselves turning ordinary people into slasher movie villains, Fear Street Part Three: 1666 is more concerned with puritanical hysteria and witchcraft. Still, even by this point, with Shadyside's mythology fleshed out so that every move made by a character drips with connotations to another moment in the series, it fails in making it any more engaging of an experience.
