I thought this was just great. A lengthy procedural with shades of Zodiac, Manhunter, and Chinatown, it doesn't all work and the mystery is pretty simple/obvious (this is a comic book movie made for the masses, after all). But Pattinson is great, Dano is great (genuinely the perfect fit for the Riddler), and the Giacchino score is beautiful and evocative of the classic noir scores of yesterday. It doesn't feel like it's meant to carry the torch or replace the Nolan Batman movies, which I think is to its benefit.
I loved following Bruce along for the ride, and Gotham feels very much like America in 2022. and Matt Reeves manages the tone really nicely. I can't wait to see it again and I can't wait to see Pattinson do this again.
