As of right now, The Phantom of the Open is in the top 5 of best films of 2022. I loved everything about this movie from start to finish. Lightyear was so much better than I expected. I honestly had no real interest in seeing this in the theater. I figured I would have caught it on Disney+ when my kids were watching it. I feel this is the case with many going into it. Let’s be honest, it felt like we were turning our backs on our beloved Toy Story Buzz. But after seeing Lightyear in its entirety, it is safe to say the legend of Buzz Lightyear is just now greater and there is now more meaning behind the toy introduced to Andy’s room on that faithful birthday in 1995.
Ethan Hawke was so good in this and I don’t even think he had to do much.
Mason Thames and Madeleine McGraw carried the majority of this film and both were incredible. The Black Phone was both intriguing and terrifying in both humanly aspects and paranormal.
