    The Phantom of the Open

    ★★★★½

As of right now, The Phantom of the Open is in the top 5 of best films of 2022. I loved everything about this movie from start to finish. Mark Rylance sucked me in immediately as Maurice Flitcroft and oh my goodness was he incredible. I thought his performance in The Outfit was top tier, but this was on another level good. I want so badly to have the blind courage Maurice Flitcroft had in life. The idea that the…

    Lightyear

    ★★★★

Lightyear was so much better than I expected. I honestly had no real interest in seeing this in the theater. I figured I would have caught it on Disney+ when my kids were watching it. I feel this is the case with many going into it. Let’s be honest, it felt like we were turning our backs on our beloved Toy Story Buzz. But after seeing Lightyear in its entirety, it is safe to say the legend of Buzz Lightyear is just now greater and there is now more meaning behind the toy introduced to Andy’s room on that faithful birthday in 1995.

Maybe not scary as in slasher horror or anything, but it had such an eerie tone between the whole concept of what was going on and Ethan Hawke’s mysterious character. I also loved the…

    Crimes of the Future

    ★★★

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.

Crimes of the Future is an idea (brilliant one at that) thrown together and put onto film.  Unfortunately, the creative minds behind this movie felt shock value was more important than story and really never gave you its full potential. The irony of the ending will be lost on many in pure disappointment. A man struggling to eat is finally full as the audiences are left craving for more. It’s a shame, as this ending would work if the story…
