Lone Wolf and Cub: White Heaven in Hell 1974

While not as conclusive of an ending as one might hope for at the end of a 6 movie series, the end was still consistent and being more ridiculous and at an even bigger scale than the last. You can clearly see how much fun some of the extras are having.

Quite an accomplishment, adapting so much material to the screen in so little time and keeping so much consistency in quality across the entire series.

    5 sword throws out…

Daigoro, we’re entering the Demon Way in Hell.

Started with a solid premise that devolved into a hallmark movie somehow. Ending saved it though and the entire final act is amazing.

They never see the sword throw coming.

Opens with a topless, tattooed female assassin killing some samurai in a bamboo forest.

Might be my favourite instalment yet. Runs from the start and barely stops until the end.

The endings also keep getting bigger and better.

Should be studying for my Japanese final next weekend, oops.

    The wolves are coming
    Their footsteps are approaching

Slower than the first two, but maybe the best ending so far.

Ogami’s facial expression when he sheathes his sword isn’t something I knew I needed in my life.

Where the downtime in the first one was setting everything up, here it’s where cub takes centre stage in some very cute scenes full of naive innocence.

Wasn’t ready for such a vast improvement on the first, which I already thought was great.

That cover art right there, in conjunction with this theoretically being an '80s slasher, is 100% why I watched this. For the record, they're not really homicidal farmers and there's definitely no lightning storms that might've contributed to any sense of spooky atmosphere. This is borderline amateur film production, and predicated on a real pet peeve turn-off of mine as a horror fan: the redneck hillbilly psychos. They spend the whole movie over-acting annoyingly and rattling on about their religious…

After looking through his filmography, I never realized how many John Hough movies I like, and American Gothic is one of them. After their plane unexpectedly lands on a remote island due to a mishap, a group of friend searches for a means of repair and stumble across a house and its (at first) inviting inhabitants. Utilizing the crazy backwoods family a la The Texas Chain Saw Massacre and peppering in a bit of The Hills Have Eyes for good measure, American Gothic is…

Always dug this one as a kid and finally got a copy of the Scream Factory blu-ray. They did an excellent job restoring it, turning a film that looked pretty low budget and grainy back in the day into something quite slick and well done.

A group of friends are on their way via a small plane to an island for a camping trip. The plane malfunctions and they end up stuck on another island. They explore the island and…
