    Top Gun: Maverick

Still as riveting the second time as the first. The purest form of nostalgia whipped into a frenzy that’s better than the original.

Creed, to me, remains the crown jewel of the influx of legacy sequels we’ve gotten the last decade, given its rousing entertainment and emotional + thematic depth. But Maverick gets right up there with it on the podium. Give it a medal that blends silver & gold 😅

  • Heat

Remains a masterpiece is almost every single way. A nearly 3-hour epic that commands tone and plot in a way that would crumble in the hands of most other directors.

What elevates this from top-tier action caper into a legendary status is the level of almost-mundane detail given to the characters and their life in this L.A.
Every choice is deliberate to further flesh out De Niro’s crew, along with Pacino’s flip side of the coin officer chasing after them.…

Upon rewatch, the MVP of this film might be John Williams. A perfect score that launches this thrilling story into the stratosphere.

    The Batman

Still a brilliant recreation of Batman, even with its flaws a bit more notable the second time around. The editing and the pace of the film can be a bit slow, but credit to Reeves and co. for crafting a beautiful world that although feels indebted to Nolan and sometimes feels incredibly similar… still stands tall and wonderful.

The thematic consistency, the story of a Bruce Wayne obsessed with only being Batman, and coming to terms with how to become a better hero is marvelous. Electric chemistry between Pattinson and Kravitz. Cinematography is gorgeous. Oh, and the score is tremendous.
