It takes a bit to get going but the end is so insanely feel-good and fun that you forget about the slow start. Pesci and Tome are an absolute power combo (plus she's an absolute babe) and Fred Gwynn is a picture perfect judge.

About an hour of this is really solid! The rest is fairly uninspired imo. It still looks awesome, and there are memorable set pieces but a lot of the fighting choreography felt repetitive.

I’ve never liked how they changed to John being hunted as opposed to doing the hunting. Part of the magic of the OG was watching this unstoppable force coming for someone who knows there’s nothing they can do about it, I think that’s when this franchise is at its best. Anyway, still fun but never the same magic as the first.

Bong is incredibly talented at achieving multiple layers of nuanced emotion in one film, which I think is what is so attractive about them to me. MoM turned my stomach, made me laugh, gave me goosebumps - all without feeling forced at all. Much of that is owed to Song Kang-Ho who is absolutely phenomenal, completely transforming his character from near comic relief to a beaten down, haunted man living out his life unable to forget his past.

Same as Parasite, I finished thinking “Now THAT was a movie.” Just a great experience.

Somehow seems to get less exciting as it goes on, but it maintains it’s level of cool and I got what I wanted out of it.

I actually kinda liked Sly in this, he’s a good mix of badass and charming with silly quips and cool one-liners alike. He is also in the upper echelon of men who rock Aviators, well accompanied by Cruise and Redford.
