David Gifford’s review published on Letterboxd:
This one isn’t terrible, but it isn’t terribly good either. Possibly my least favorite in the franchise. The movies greatest fault is the direction they went with Freddy. Sure he was always wise cracking a little bit, but this movie turned Freddy into a joke. The kill scenes aren’t nearly as good as the previous movie or really the movie after it for that matter.
At the end of the day the thing that makes this movie so low on the list for the franchise is how unnecessary it was. Say what you will about dream child or Freddy’s Dead, but at least they had something to say or do. This movie really just felt like it needed an excuse to have Freddy show up
