Gibnerd’s review published on Letterboxd:
Fast paced, brutal, blood soaked and hauntingly heartfelt in the weird way these amazing Korean filmmakers do it best, I Saw the Devil is a nasty little masterpiece. in the hands of almost anyone else and i'm sure in the case of the eventual uncessecary USA remake, this could have been some bullshit torture porn waste, but director Kim Jee-Woon plays this movie like a piece of classical music with beautiful highs and lows and playing on your emotions like a champion. the film takes a disturbing but seemingly real look into the mind of a serial killer and tells a revenge tale so damn good that it must have made Tarantino stare at himself in the mirror for a couple hours after he saw it.
Brilliant stuff and if you haven't seen it yet, it's waiting for you & is still streaming in glorious HD on Netflix
