I went into this with absolutely zero expectations. I saw a lot of 3 star reviews for it on Letterbox so was ready for it to be middle of the road.
You know what? I loved it. For me the best Kong film I've seen. Action packed with just the right amount of silliness sprinkled throughout. Kong has never looked better and setting it against the end of the Vietnam war gave it enough of a twist to make it a bit more believable. Sure, most of the characters decided to play cartoons and why the hell not, I don't want a realistic story about a gigantic monkey.
Top notch cinema fun.
