    Hoop-tober8: Film 11

I've got to be honest, Hoop-tober8 is not going well. Most horror films are average - hell, most films are average. I think the issue is I did Hoop-tober last year and watched most of my faves and this year have tried some new ones. In the main most of them have been shit.

Friday the 13th isn't shit. But it ain't good. It's just mind numbingly boring.

    Hoop-tober8: Film 10

Well, this is Wes Craven experimenting with humour and horror. It mostly doesn't work as all comedy horror in the 90s didn't.

For me, the tone is wrong. The film almost wants to be The Goonies but is just too violent. It could have cropped quite a lot of that out and kept it a PG spooky house film.

All that said, it is fantastic to see Ed and Nadine from Twin Peaks as the lunatic landlords. They really go for it and just poor 90s film style spoils it all.

A metaphor about a man trapped in an abusive relationship for 45 years until some kids help free him by killing his wife.

A list of moments that made me laugh out loud:

    1) Mr Bean is on an aeroplane and tries to wake up someone by blowing up a used sick bag over a sleeping man.
    2) Mr Bean speeds up a theme park ride causing everyone to be thrown around like ragdolls.
    3) David: "Don't turkeys take 5 hours to cook?"
    Mr Bean: "Not necessarily."
Cut to Mr Bean stuffing it into microwave.
    4) Mr Bean ruins a $50 million painting…
