A Cottage on Dartmoor 1929
I definitely had a lecture on this in first year, but the fact this film felt brand new to me on a ‘rewatch’ says I was either horrifically hungover, or not present.
This was great though! -

Soul 2020
Film #4 of London Film Festival 2020
So glad we got to see this on the big screen at the BFI today - what a great experience! Great extended intro with the filmmakers too (ultra jealous of Justin Johnson’s DVD/blu-ray collection...).
This felt like Pixar’s first mature animation that they’ve properly made for an older audience. It was well constructed and in my opinion included more interesting ideas than Inside Out in exploring how soul ‘works’. Fantastic casting, fantastic voices. Desperate to listen to the whole score of this film - Atticus Ross and Trent Reznor and Jon Batiste.

Thunder Road 2018
Held up on the second viewing. Still laughed and cried in the same places as the first time I saw it at the festival.
I think what I like the most about this film is the way it's made, and the fact that it feels very achievable to make a film like this as my own first feature.
Good uses of long takes. Jim Cummings is just fantastic.
