wow!! where to start!!
absolutely stunning cinematography, great soundtrack, gorgeous sfx and a fantastic cast!!
one of the things that really stood out to me about this film was the fighting style used. due to the Chinese influences, there was obviously going to be martial arts but i didn’t expect it to look so awesome!! particularly when Shang Chi’s mother and aunt were fighting. they’re total badasses!!
it also links fantastically with earlier Marvel films - Wong makes several appearances (absolute legend!) and a very clever callback to Iron Man 3 is made with Trevor (sidenote: Trevor and Morris are such an iconic duo i’m obsessed).
I LOVED the friendships Shang Chi has with his sister and Katy. i’m very excited to see how Katy develops as a warrior (and i just love awkwafina lmao).
i feel like the sfx deserve a whole paragraph to themselves!! from the rings and the way they change colour when they go from Wenwu to Shang Chi, to the dragons (the bit where the dragon emerges from the water made me audibly gasp it was gorgeous) to the hovering water droplets to the different animals and creatures!! all so so amazing!!!
overall, a super enjoyable film with a great plot and awesome characters!! can’t wait to see more.
P.S. the first post credit scene is better, if you think the second is you’re lying to yourself
