HOOTING and HOLLERING, pumping my fist at what an absolute bop this is!! I don’t think Heather Langenkamp is very good here (sorry Heather), and Craig Wasson’s storyline in the third act feels like it was written purely because the writers had no idea how to include his character in the main action, but otherwise? Total banger. Oozing with straight-up late Eighties dark fantasy vibes (down to a soundtrack lifted from Labyrinth), a Raimi-esque shovel fight with a stop-motion skeleton, Larry Fishburne, Patricia Arquette, D&D, gnarly practical effects, Freddy committing the ultimate act of catfishing…. This movie goes HARD. I love it.
