The Fall

The Fall ★★★★

Brilliant and moving third act. For the first two, I cared far more about the real-life happenings than the often silly (and at times bizarre) fairy tale backdrop, but the third act combined them powerfully.

One of the most sincere child performances I have ever seen. The interactions between Alexandria and Roy felt real; the way they played off each other was genuine.

I found the violence to be unnecessarily gratuitous at times, and the fairy tale sequences went from being amusingly eccentric to downright bizarre, but the way the tale paralleled the real-life happenings and how all the elements came together in the climax was beautiful.
