This film had so much potential coming of James Gunns “Guardians of the Galaxy”, however this film was very disappointing to me, not to say that it’s not a good film because it is, however I had so much hope but the story was too convoluted with at least 3 different plot lines that all seemed crammed into this 2hour 18minute film.
However, with its flaws comes some high points as well. Chris Pratt plays Star Lord perfectly with his funny charisma and attitude, Zoe Saldana shines as well as Dave Bautista and Karen Gillian. Kurt Russell’s villain Ego shines in the first two acts however, for me, drops off in the last act and becomes a lot less interesting. Pom Klementieff who plays Mantis is also a great addition to the MCU. Where as all of these performances I would consider good, the real star of this film is Michael Rooker, his character Yondu gets his time to shines and provides many laughs throughout this film. “I’m Mary Poppins Y’all” Is one of my favourite lines in the MCU!
Whilst I don’t consider this to be one of Marvels best films I do consider it to be another solid entry into the MCU. Still doesn’t mean I’m not excited for Gotg3.
