Putting it simply— I thought it was fine.

I was almost convinced the people calling the film generic were crazy about an hour in, but then something happened along the way, nothing specific necessarily, but something that progressively made me less and less interested. I can't really pinpoint that moment or the error— I swear I was enjoying myself, then blinked and felt disconnected. I feel extremely cliche for these opinions, but, yes, Florence Pugh is the best part of…

Oh my God— what a movie.

Reminded me of World War Z in the sense that SO much stuff happens and is all condensed down and edited tightly into this massive blockbuster film that could likely be a trilogy of films instead.

I was actually quite surprised at how genuinely decent the movie was for the first half -- there was real tension and fascinating world-building. The concept is in itself an attention-grabber. Some of the movie felt like a…

I think this could've been more enjoyable if it was simply a samurai/assassin film, and wasn't burdened with the responsibility of expanding on this preexisting franchise and property. Maybe I'm missing something, but I'm just not so sure what the G.I. Joe name does for this and how it was expected to increase profit and popularity. I think people are more hungry for samurai-style films than Hollywood realizes.

Feels quite nightmarish— like Shyamalan channeling his inner Ari Aster.

    M. Night's cheesy sensibilities will always work for me in ways I won't understand, and I forgive moments I wouldn't otherwise with filmmakers and their respective stories. I trust the man behind the wheel. Although, I always expect speed bumps or some turbulence so to speak. The movie never completely went off course for me, but by the second half (more like the last 30 minutes) it became difficult to…

People aren't born monsters, the world makes them that way. Believe what you want, but in the end, that's what I took away from this one.

Some of the best digital cinematography I've ever seen. It's possibly the best looking movie of the year too and I wish more people were talking about that. I do understand though why Joaquin Phoenix is what everyone is discussing, because he was extraordinary, and that was no surprise.

Is it getting crazier out there?

I wholeheartedly and unsarcastically love watching this movie. It's so damn funny that it hurts. The piñata scene always has me roaring, because it's ridiculous and stupid, and that's my sense of humor in a nutshell. I laugh at the goofiest shit... I don't even care.

I read that Mike Myers was contractually obligated to make this film, and even tried getting out of making it, which lead to a legal battle of…
