Although this is spoofing '80 horror killers, it feels like its true basis is on the original Universal Frankenstein monster. The humor is also very British—a lot of dry wit abounds. I've always wanted to see this movie, but it was never that high on my list, so I can't say I'm disappointed. But it did leave me with a sense that the main gag starts to feel tired towards the end. What the film has in its favor is its really dated look (which I like a lot) and some terrific acting by the leads (as well as the killer's father).
