I have to be honest, I’m not the biggest DC fan so I was purely watching this on a shallow level. But I love Wonder Woman so I had to watch. This genuinely has to be one of the greatest looking superhero films I’ve seen in over a decade, no exaggeration. It looks incredible. I loved the metallic looking aesthetic, I couldn’t take my eyes off it.
I have no doubt this would have been so epic to see on the big screen at the cinema because there wasn’t a moment of this that didn’t feel important (although I did start to feel the runtime in the last hour.) But it’s a Director’s Cut so I knew what I signed up for. You can tell Synder’s vision for the DC is seeped in world building and artistic license so I would happily watch anything else he’s made. Imagine if he made the next WW movie!!!!! I love that she has her own theme song, it felt very Gladiator to me. The depiction of the Amazons was amazing and they were so goddamn powerful. His mythological godlike take on superheroes is honestly refreshing and elevates the medium as whole in my opinion. The first hour of setup was perfect. This isn’t without flaws however, I thought the introduction to Barry Allen was cringe, the whole slow motion saving the girl thing was painful. And that stupid “tip of the tip” line made me CACKLE. Who came up with that and seriously thought that was something we could take seriously. 😭😭😭
