Delightfully hokey William Castle production remains entertaining even without the various gimmicks that accompanied its theatrical run. Seeing none other than Vincent Price tripping on acid (first trip on screen) is worth it alone but there's plenty of charms to be had throughout. The concept of a creature that lives within us and grows to huge size when it's host gets scared is ridiculous but fun, and I thought the thing looked mildly effective like an overfed earwig.
Check out the book "Crackpot: The Obsessions of John Waters" to read Water's excellent tribute to Castle. In the age of D Box, post converted 3d and various other attempts to bring people to the theaters Castle appears as relevant as ever, and I would be interested in watching more of his movies.
