Maybe I don't like noir as much as I told myself I do? I don't dislike it but I'm not as enamored with it as I wish I were. I don't know what the deal is.
This is undeniably a good film though. It's prime era Wilder so it's tight as hell with great acting. It's interesting because you know things will go wrong in ways that are telegraphed from the start but there are twists along the way that change it up. The exchanges between the leads are brilliant too. Some really risque spicy stuff. Robinson as the guy who is too competent at his insurance job rules too.
Most people like this more than me but I'd definitely watch it again. I'd probably like it more on a second viewing.
