Scream is the rare film that can wink and make fun of itself while still following the exact tropes it is satirizing. This would have been great as a straight slasher, the opening is iconic for a reason. But it's the mystery aspect, the audacity to say these are the rules we are playing by and you still won't be able to figure it out, that pushes Scream to a classic. Also the faces Matthew Lillard makes.
