The Witch

The Witch ★★★★

The Witch was one of the major films in the elevated horror movement and served as an excellent debut for Robert Eggers and Anya Taylor-Joy as a filmmaker and an actress respectively. The Witch was a supernatural horror, a historical drama, and a family drama. It was a fantastic looking film because of the set design, the wilderness, and the naturalistic cinematography. It was also a brilliantly acted film due to the family tensions rise because of the hardships of life in the wilderness and the disappearance of one of the children. It was atmospheric, naturally, and due to the disappearance of a child and because of the Early Modern English it felt like a folklore tale put to screen.
