Howards End 1992
A little directionless, or really too many-directioned, for the first half. Second half, with all the relationships set up and bombs just going off constantly, really cooks. Some great lines of dialogue. “It’s madness when I say it, but not when you say it.” Funny to have Hopkins and Thompson against each other in another Merchant/Ivory but playing such different characters (though I guess this actually came out a year before Remains).

Killer's Kiss 1955
Slight but a big step forward from Fear and Desire, with a few truly excellent sequences: the story about the dancer sister told over her ballet routine, the long rooftop chase set to minimalist percussive music and culminating in a bizarre fight scene in a mannequin factory.

One Night in Miami... 2020
Definitely still feels like a play, but a very good play with four strong leads, who absent any plot mechanism just bounce off each other for two engaging hours. Great dialogue.
