Judas and the Black Messiah

Judas and the Black Messiah ★★★★

Bill O'Neal: A badge is scarier than a gun... sir.

This flick is very well made and well acted. LaKeith and Daniel Kaluuya are both great here..I wish the flick focused more on Fred and Bill’s relationship and the deception around it...it’s a bit unfocused And covers a lot of ground but feel it half asses in certain areas...the films wants us to believe despite betraying Fred, Bill was a believer in the “movement.” I didn’t really believe or feel that watching it and just thought Bill was for Bill despite dialogue that leads to the contrary (Jesse plemmons character mentions something about Bill really believing this shit and deserving an academy award otherwise)...also wonder about the historical accuracy of it all and the J Edgar Hoover shit in particular...a lot of the stuff concerning informants working with the FBI (CI’s) is really intriguing ...this is a very good flick containing some eye opening history (also feel police and America have come a long way when it comes to the treatment of people of color despite what the mainstream media and certain politicians would lead you to believe and there is some disgusting abhorrent racism on display here) but could have been a great one if it was more focused. The performances elevate it overall tho. Also need to add as radical as The Black Panthers may have been...they did more for their communities and children then BLM today has and will ever do...whose money just gets funneled to Democrat politicians
