Wasn't in a rush to see this because just about every scene was posted on Twitter the day it came out.
I'm really divided on this movie. On one hand, I like movies like this, one setting with strong characters talking and slowly expanding the world outside of the frame. On the other hand, the writing was a bit all over the place. The dynamic between Malcolm and Marie is interesting to watch because there are moments where they can feel embarrassingly relatable depicting the lows of a relationship but there are also moments where it's like alright that's a little too much. I also got the hint that Sam Levinson used parts of this movie to add some commentary on film culture but again, he takes it a bit too far and I feel sucked out of the movie. I wouldn't go as far as to call Malcolm & Marie a bad movie but I feel like it varies on who you are and how you perceive fights in a relationship. I'll definitely have to sit on this one for a bit and see if it grows on me.
