    The Ballad of Buster Scruggs

    ★★★½

when this is good it's jawdropping and like legitimately breathtaking. but then some of it is mediocre. basically sometimes things are good and other times they are bad. just in general

  • Overlord

    Overlord

    ★★★½

    hell yea
this reeks of them wanting to make it way more crazy but the production company putting a damper on it
    UPDATE
I looked it up and I was totally right, the first draft had Boyce decapitating exploded Nazis with a giant sword and focused way more on horror. I wish I could've seen the director seriously let it rip with this concept but oh well

    predy gud

  • Revenge

    Revenge

    ★★★½

this was very good but for a movie that attempts to forcibly rip the eyeballs out of the male gaze, the main character felt weirdly underdeveloped and one-dimensional. jen did not feel like much more than her trauma, which was disappointing and odd to me

other than that, good flick, glad i watched it, visually gorgeous, i have never seen this much blood in a movie

  • Coherence

    Coherence

    ★★★½

great concept that could have been executed/ended much better, i think. once i caught on i was in love, but i dunno. it fell a little flat for me in the last ten minutes and i felt like they really missed an opportunity to knock it out of the park. very awesome production process, very awesome for its basically nonexistent budget, but i can't help but feel kind of disappointed for some reason. idk. this should have been a Will Movie

  • Good Time

    Good Time

    ★★★½

i cannot decide how I feel about this movie. I loves parts of it, the pacing was so bizarre though. just short of a slam dunk

  • The Devil's Candy

    The Devil's Candy

    ★★★½

I wanted to like this way more than I actually did. Visually and sonically I had a blast, but the plot was just weird and I didn't care about the characters (or really the central conflict) that much. I'm happy I saw it, it made me smile and I loved the heavy metal stuff, but the actual writing and acting were confusingly mediocre. Worth a watch and doesn't overstay its welcome.

    mother!

    ★★★½

this movie got far better after I googled an analysis of it. which maybe means it wasn't that good
