this thing rules. the soundtrack is something that i never noticed in previous viewings but it's absolutely perfect. i cannot really find any flaw in this movie.

    The Devil's Candy

I wanted to like this way more than I actually did. Visually and sonically I had a blast, but the plot was just weird and I didn't care about the characters (or really the central conflict) that much. I'm happy I saw it, it made me smile and I loved the heavy metal stuff, but the actual writing and acting were confusingly mediocre. Worth a watch and doesn't overstay its welcome.

i forgot that ray romano is actually a really god damn good actor

  • Beyond the Black Rainbow

    Beyond the Black Rainbow

the vast majority of people i have asked to sit through this movie have come away not liking it, if they finish it at all. I totally get that. the pacing is torpid, the characters are weird, the plot is weak at best, and the first act is wildly sluggish.

I LOVE this thing. it's so weird and unapologetic. it is a completely hypnotic sensory overload, and not in the "this is annoying and i want to puke" edgy way…

    Star Wars: The Last Jedi

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.

It's not a gamechanger, but it's very pretty and it's very fun.

The fight in the red room (including the buildup before Kylo kills Snoke) is potentially my favorite fight in the entire series. I lost my shit when the Praetorian guard did the thing with the whip/chain. damn

    Lady Bird

this is the only coming-of-age movie that I have ever actually identified with. good cast, great writing

  • Alien

this film TOTALLY WHIPS ASS. the xenomorph is the coolest movie monster of all time, period. the little props, the sets, all of it totally owns. the final girl trope is kind of obnoxious but it uses it to the point of hyperbole, Ripley never gets a break. every part of this movie owns

  • Her

I really like this movie, but I have no clue why everyone reads it as a romantic movie. It's not. To me, the movie is pretty obviously about the isolation that comes with technological advancement. to say the movie is about Theo falling in love is like saying inception is about taking a nap

  • Icarus

extremely compelling. one of the most engrossing and suspensful documentaries i've ever seen

  • Blade Runner 2049

    Blade Runner 2049

    god DAMN

the visuals, the worldbuilding, the soundtrack, everything was so deliberate and careful and cool. i did feel the length quite a bit towards the end, but wow. truly thankful and lucky to have witnessed something like this

cmon. it was fun and the neomorph was cool as fuck

  • District 9

    District 9

truly fantastic world-building, great acting, etc. this movie is extremely original and refreshing and I use it as an example of how science fiction is not just a goofy or schlocky genre. i used to have dreams about the alien weaponry
