alleged raunchy deleted scenes aside it’s insane how obvious it is on every level that this was originally made for like high schoolers and college kids. all of the extras look like they’re in a sum 41 video

Lords of Chaos 2018
Not done with this yet but i’m so bored and irritated that im just reviewing it now. No interesting position taken on the scene whatsoever. no reverence for or even interest in the art, no actual condemnation of these kids, no nothing. makes perfect sense that this is Vice adjacent. parts of it look kind of nice but all of them speak in highly obnoxious and unrealistic YA prose. it isn’t sad or cool or angering or anything
i just can’t get over how little interest there even is in the music here it’s insane, why even make the movie lol

Trick 'r Treat 2007
perfectly captures all the random sensory data of halloween as a kid in a way few other movies do

Hereditary 2018
i will forever feel privileged to have been a young person when this movie came out lol. impossible to overhype

The Blair Witch Project 1999
i hate every character in the movie except for all the damn geezers they interview in the beginning

Drag Me to Hell 2009
the most a movie has ever turned itself around in the last 20 minutes for me lol

Begotten 1989
“I wanted Begotten to look, not as if it were from the twenties, not even as if it were from the nineteenth century, but as if it were from the time of Christ, as if it were a cinematic Dead Sea Scroll that had been buried in the sands, a remnant of a culture with customs and rites that no longer apply to this culture, yet are somewhere underneath it, under the surface of what we call ‘reality.’”
i think…
