Please stop adapting books and keeping the narration! Leave that for the books, it works better in that medium! It can work sometimes, but right away I could tell it was a film that wasn’t about to tell it’s story in a unique way - it’s told very generically with a structure that only emphasizes the long runtime.
If you’re watching for just the plot I’m sure you’ll enjoy it, but if you’re hoping for filmmaking that challenges the audience even a little bit then this isn’t it.
Because it doesn’t attempt to do anything unique, the whole production just comes across as really lifeless.
