I'm a basketball nut, and I love the original, so I wanted to like this, I really did, but my expectations were low and sadly met with clumsy character and story writing. On the bright side, it's got a few enjoyable b-ball sequences, it's just overall, not very funny or good to be honest.

Like Moneyball, this is mostly made up of well-written, well-acted "dudes talkin shop" interaction scenes, and I'm all about it. The hindsight’s a bit much in some of the dialogue, but Damon and Viola Davis were great, so it's fine. Anyway, good to see '84 up on the big screen like this; the music, the fashion, the lingo, good shit. Affleck's now 4 outta 5 as a director in my book (Live by Night was not my cup of tea).
