I’ve already been to the movie theater plenty of times in 2022 to see a plethora of different films and Bullet Train was about as fun a time I've had as any of them. There is something about over the top, extremely exaggerated violence that speaks to me (writing that sentence out was a little unnerving) and in that aspect, Bullet Train does NOT fail to deliver. It can only be a plus that the setting is Japan and our characters are fighting on a train. That being said, I can definitely see this not being for everyone and I certainly understand some of the grievances with the movie, whether that be it was "way too funny" and "not serious enough" or it’s a cookie cutter action film lacking originality, but I found Bullet Train to be a breath of fresh air in a summer that hasn’t exactly been full of megahits. I’d even go see it again in a theater and for me that’s a big deal.
