In 2004, this film was nominated for four Academy Awards and received worldwide critical acxliam(as it should). When a movie like this comes along, i remember what drew me in about cinema for practically my entire life.
The cinematography was breathtaking, the editing from gloomy yellows to the bright blues during the third act. The main thing i wanted to do when i first joined Letterboxd back in April was to try and broaden my taste. Looking into films that my old self probably wouldn’t have thought to watch opens my eyes and really makes me a strong believer that a movie doesn’t need to be all happy and sunshiney to be a good film.
I loved everything about this, even though certain scenes made me close my eyes because of the shooting scenes or the extensive strobe effects.
