The Prestige

The Prestige ★★★★

"Are you watching Closely..?"

Where to start..

The acting is great. Hugh Jackman and Christian Bale do an excellent job. Micheal Caine as always is the true star of the show and I love him here. The cinematography is beautiful, and the score is fantastic. This is so far at least for me the Nolan film that does the best at telling multiple timelines. Really overall this is just a really well made movie, but not a perfect one.

I know the film didn't want you to but it still bugged me. I didn't like either of the protagonists and I found both of them to be bad people. This shouldn't be too much of an issue but when the film tries to make you feel really good about one triumphing over the other, I couldn't help but just react like "okay". Also Nolan shoved like 5 twists into the last 15 minutes of the movie and I kind of laughed at how it was executed.

So yeah, I really enjoyed this film. It's another great Nolan film, but I'm not in the same camp that would call this a five star masterpiece. I highly recommend this film.

Grade: B+
