im surprised by how much i did like this because i really wasn’t expecting to after seeing the trailers and seeing some of the leaks. it’s still a very messy, stupid story that wasn’t really necessary and could’ve all been avoided in a much simpler way but then there’s no movie so whatever.
still very much a marvel movie with the usual dodgy CGI and plot format but i will admit i did enjoy the expected villain role that wanda assumed. she was just downright crazy and powerful in this movie and i’m not the biggest fan of MCU wanda but i enjoyed watching her scenes but whether that’s because they were just the more interesting ones in general i don’t know. sam raimi definitely makes this his own and you can tell he likes to experiment because this is like the only MCU movie that plays with camera style and techniques and it really did make it seem like a breath of fresh air.
i just wish that middle section with a bunch of certain characters appearing wasn’t there. i wont lie it did not work one bit and it added nothing to the story or characters and i don’t know why i’m surprised considering what no way home was like and disney in general but still. the MCU now is very much hit and miss (mainly miss right now). something about the projects post-2018 have been so lacklustre i think i’m just growing out of it. also i wont lie but hayley atwell looked ridiculous as captain carter and i laughed when she got chopped in half like who asked for this? i did enjoy black bolt though he was like the only cool one and if it leads to proper inhumans then im all on board but i feel like it was just a little treat/redemption for the show.
anyways this is just me rambling general thoughts but i did like the movie and my low expectations were met i guess. mainly interested in where wanda is going to go next because this was an actual interesting version of her for the first time in the MCU.
