amy please... is this a test of loyalty? because i don’t know how much more i can take 😭 (btw my full review of the film is in this video!)
This movie teaches you 3 things:
1. Don't try to copy Hitchcock and his legacy. You can‘t do anything but fail
2. Julianne Moore should only be allowed to have red hair
3. Another year will go by without Amy Adams getting an Oscar
Rear Window but it's James Stewart investigating the murder of Amy Adams' Oscar chances
anna’s dvd collection... okay cinephile i see you! what’s your letterboxd queen?
consider this amy adams' warning that she will continue making movies like this if she doesn't get her oscar soon
how can you hear the cat tongues line and not declare this a work of art i don’t get it
i mean, you do kinda have to admire Joe Wright’s confidence in watching about two Hitchcock films and then thinking to himself “oh i can do that :D”
I feel like i just watched 5 different movies.. and none of them were good unfortunately
THE WOMAN IN THE WINDOW feels like it wants to be a modern-day REAR WINDOW made in the precise style of David Fincher but there are too many cracks in this one. None of its pieces, as gorgeous as they are (cinematography, score, set design & cast), ever come together to create a satisfying & coherent whole. It’s all shattered. Don’t cut yourself.
Perfectly acceptable thriller trash of the sort that isn't really getting made anymore. So many dipshit red herrings and twists that it's mildly unintelligible. Over-directed but hey at least it's directed. Deeply silly but at least it's got a sense of humor. Everyone's histrionics are clearly feature not bug. Obviously it sucks but I'm not entirely sure what the problem is with that.
