Abstract, psychotic, and nonsensical, but extremely fucking fun in a way that proves George Miller is just the absolute king. I did NOT know anything about this movie going into it and there’s literally not one aspect I was expecting. Jack Nicholson saying “I always like a little pussy after lunch” felt like a Sixth Sense-level twist. As did the absolutely horrifying ending!!!
Jack Nicholson looks like I tried to draw a political cartoon of Steven Seagal from memory. Direct line from his performance here to Jack Black’s career. Cher, Sarandon, and Pfeiffer are so hot in this movie they’re hurting my feelings. If Susan Sarandon ever gave me the eyes she's giving Jack Nicholson I’d be storming the Capitol…
Michelle Pfeiffer in this movie may be the most attractive a woman has ever looked.
When's the last time we got an unabashedly-adult movie that was this GOOFY? Just fucking batty, with the whimsical rubber energy of a children's movie? The John Williams score is carrying a lot of that tone but Jack Nicholson's performance is just... flawless here. Man's rolling around like Vincent D'Onofrio in Men in Black one second and Paul Giamatti in Big Fat Liar the next, then dropping lines about how he "loves a little pussy after lunch." Wiki page for this movie should have a section that's just "record Oscar wins."
George Miller's one of the best directors we've got. He's not just a king with the camera, he's an honest-to-god psychopath. Imagine being pitched his storyboards for the end…
jack nicholson really says, “i like pussy after lunch” not ONE HOUR into this film
imagine praying to god every night to send the perfect man and he sends you jack nicholson
If you told me that in the 1980s Jack Nicholson was actually the vessel for Satan I would 100 percent believe it.
Also, everyone looks great in this movie but Michelle Pfeiffer in those glasses is the most attractive a (white) woman has ever been.
“Men are such cocksuckers, aren’t they? You don’t have to answer that. It’s true. They’re scared. Their dicks get limp when confronted by a woman of obvious power. And what to do they do about it? Call them witches. Burn them, torture them, until every woman is afraid. Afraid of herself, afraid of men, and all for what? Fear of losing their hard-on. Let’s play some music.”
