Immensely staged, and Gene Kelly's thighs could tame the might of god, but this doesn't go anywhere even as it looks gorgeous spinning in circles.
judy garland sings a song about how gene kelly could never do anything wrong immediately after he kissed her while she was under hypnosis and threatened to burn her town to the ground if she didn’t run away with him someone please get her out of there!!!
Some of Minnelli’s finest staging. It has a better sense of adventure than many actual pirate movies.
