How can a 20-minute per episode miniseries be this boring bruh this could've been 5 episodes, a movie, an email
Really liked this for the most part. As is typical for a lot of these limited series, I don’t think they always justify their length. That said, I wasn’t really ever hoping this would end even if it dragged some in the second half. I didn’t always buy into this somewhat ridiculous premise, but it’s pretty fun to suspend your disbelief to watch Domhnall Gleeson and Steve Carell in these roles, both of whom are really excellent. Ultimately, I think this is a worthwhile watch that has satisfying and emotionally resonant finale.

The Patient 10-episode miniseries doesn’t know if it wants to be an insightful crime drama or a satire. Steve Carrell stars as Alan, a psychiatrist who recently became a widower finds himself held captive by a serial killer (Domhnall Gleeson) to help him restain his urges to kill. The acting was okay. Tension was lacking in this except for one episode where Alan was exposed to a horrific act, Carrell acted the heck out of that scene. Sometimes it felt lighthearted and silly which took me out of it. It might be the score. These types of weekly episodes that are less than half an hour needs to be impactful to make us want to come back. It meanders a lot. I like the idea of examining the mind of a killer, but this series left much to be desired.
Domhnall Gleeson stars as "The Patient",
And starting to feel complacent.
He’ll sit and talk,
With Steve the Doc,
All from down in his basement.
Well that took a turn.
The Patient started off really strong and then in it's second act it really kind of dragged. For me the show really stuck the landing though. It's a great ending that elevates everything else. This was already Carrell's strongest dramatic work to date, but the last couple of episodes solidified that.
I do think even at half hour episodes -- 10 episodes was a little much. I really appreciate what the series was going for regarding faith and forgiveness.
I think people are going to either love or hate the ending. But for me it worked, because I found it to be fairly realistic and consistent with the overall themes of the series.
