Boring, bland and ultimately pointless. The cast delivers good work, with Dev Patel and Jeremy Irons becoming the obvious stand-outs and especially Patel giving a powerful performance. It's just sad to see it wasted in a film about a mathematician that has nothing of actual value to say about his life, insteadbasically chronicling the Wikipedia article and leaving it at that.
No scene in this biopic seems to have any actual relevance; the dialogues feel staged and the supporting characters appear to be completely underdeveloped. The production design and period look of the film are really good and elevate this from what would undoubtedly have been a mediocre made-for-television film based on its poor and unimaginative screenplay.
I'll give it 2.5 out of 5 stars because I'll probably watch anything with Dev Patel and because the rating score feels perfect for a film that is so mediocre.
