I thought this film was pretty decent but not quite great. The story is competent but quite conventional, I found most of the humour just mildly funny, and I thought that all the characters aside from the protagonist were pretty boring. Even the protagonist himself is nothing overly special although he’s solidly written and watchable.
Despite all this however, after sitting with this film for longer, something about it was sticking with me. It has a real quietness and understated quality about it that I think aids it in exploring it’s themes quite effectively.
I don’t want to say too much more about it but all I’ll say is that I think this film will be a slow burner, at least for me, and I wouldn’t mind revisiting this at some point in the future as I think I might like it more on rewatch.
Also, there’s one really great edit in this film which I thought was hilarious.
