Do you think Tom Hanks ever looks back on his illustrious career and ponders which movie was more bonkers? The one where he bangs a mermaid or the one where he's a ten year old in 30 year olds body that bangs a grown woman.
this was ridiculous...... but i'm gonna go crimp the living shit out of my hair if that's what it takes to get a young tam honks to fall in love with me
going to write an essay on disney+ digitally adding in a chewbacca-esque fur pelt to cover up daryl hannah’s naked ass because “nudity is bad” but still leaving in all the scenes with john candy being a gross misogynist and dropping loose coins on the ground so he can look up women’s skirts
Disney, I seriously don’t get ya. While you go around claiming your Disney+ platform is family friendly, you have a movie that is not only the first movie from this brand you guys launched specifically to distribute adult-oriented projects, but it one that doesn't shy away from this. You got the Hannah's barebutt and all horny, Candy's perverted character, and was it me or did this movie was trying to sell me a subscription to Penthouse?
Despite the inconsistencies, the movie itself was quite charming. It took a while for the film to really get going and most of the early set up is cringe-worthy and has aged poorly, but by the second half - especially the third act -…
Tom Hanks has sex with a mermaid who can’t speak a word of english. how is this on disney+ ?
kind of iconic that madison knew nothing about being on land or with ppl but her first word was bloomingdale’s and she managed to take herself on a shopping trip
i love movies where someone fucks a fish and then swims away with them into the abyss 2 be together forever. the shape of water is SHAKING
"What are you looking at? You never saw a guy who slept with a fish before?"
The is a certain type of comfort that 80's films provide, as if they exist on their own plane apart from all other films; the distinctive qualities of the mediocre ones with their bland writing and poorly orchestrated plots that envelop us in a warm fuzzy feeling of knowing that everything is somehow going to be alright. I feel like these exist simply to make us feel better and for when we're not looking for something to challenge us in our viewing. (Also, when I told my wife I had never seen this particular one that fits that 80's mold, she demanded it be…
20. A film featuring humans in love with something not human! Scavenger Hunt #3
80's fun Fantasy Comedy directed by Ron Howard, a perfect Sunday film, A young Tom Hanks falls in love with a mermaid played by Daryl Hannah, yh a ridiculous premise, but it works, The brilliant John Candy and Eugene Levy provide the laughs. It never turns really cheesy, never takes itself to serious, it will never get old, could call this a family classic. They did seem to be some gaps in the story. Splash is a charming, good-natured, funny, sweet, romantic comedy film.
What are you looking at?
You never saw a guy who slept with a fish before?
Probably one of the best live action fairy tales ever produced, this classic fish out of water story knows exactly what it wants to be. Tom Hanks shines in his breakout role as the everyman who’s packed with the charm and charisma that always makes him so likable.
The only thing that makes this movie feel extremely dated is Daryl Hannah’s crimped hair. I mean how would a mermaid even be able to do that? And don’t tell me that it’s natural, because even Mermaids can’t be that magical.
BONUS POINTS to John Candy who’s absolutely perfect in this film! I really miss him.
I’ll serve. You hold the beer.
That’ll be your handicap.
