Struggling with this one. Not quite sure what I got out of it or what it wanted me to get out of it but I liked it? I think?
What I really latched onto was the Murakami-like sense of listless drifting into the night, meeting people you may or may not know and having hazy, rambling conversations. Few films have captured that so well and I was so enamored with a lot of what it was doing. A few of the conversations are spellbinding, especially the one with Lee Joo-young. She’s absolutely magnetic.
It’s a shame that this doesn’t add up to much ultimately, its episodic nature never coalescing into a anything more than fleeting moments of yearning. But it’s a film I’m sure to revisit one day because there’s something here. I’m just not entirely sure what.
