Rocket science is WILDDD how a person can even begin to figure that shit out is beyond me. I thought this was really cute and heartwarming. Young Jake Gyllenhaal is so adorable.
October Sky is one of the most inspiring and well done biopics I've had the privilege to witness. The film tells the true story of Homer Hickam, a teenager with nothing special going for him until one night he witnesses a rocket soar through the sky. This ignites a passion for rocket science in him and he sets out to follow his dream and escape his home town, which is basically a poverty-ridden coal mining settlement (not a fun place at all).

Such a sweet little film. Felt like a warm hug. Left me feeling inspired too. Jake Gyllenhaal was a gifted actor from the very beginning and he demonstrates it here in his first lead role. Laura Dern portrays the supportive and kind-hearted teacher we need in our life. The highlight of the film is definitely the father-son relationship between Jake's character and his dad portrayed by Chris Cooper and its growth throughout the runtime.
