A wealthy nobleman gives a young man a job as a bodyguard and takes his wife as a mistress. When the wife gets pregnant and gives birth to twins (one girl, one boy) the bodyguard is ordered to kill the wife and the girl so that the nobleman can raise the boy as hiw own. Of course, the bodyguard hides them instead and whaddayouknow, the two twins meet nineteen years later. Bring on the incest, bondage and bloody violence.
A decent pinku with a good story and actually not that much überkinky stuff. The actors are good, especially the leading lady playing a dual role ad mother and daughter. Unfortunately all of this leads to a rushed climax that only…
Naked Rashomon has nothing to do with Kurosawa’s Rashomon. Neither plot nor structure wise. It took me while to get over that, because I was looking for the parallels. That curiosity aside, I enjoyed the film quite a lot. It slightly more plot driven than other Nikkatsu’s that I have seen. It’s well shot as usual but the standout here was lead actress Hitomi Kozue. This was the first film I’ve seen of her and I must say, I am intrigued. She reminds me more of Toei’s Sukeban Girls like Miki Sugimoto and Reiko Ike than other female Nikkatsu stars. It’s that mixture of sassiness, defiance and sensuality. Definitely want to see more of her.
Somehow the nonsensical title is the least perplexing aspect of this pungent concoction of LADY SNOWBLOOD, INSECT WOMAN, GATE OF FLESH, STREET OF SHAME, ONIBABA and CRUEL STORY OF YOUTH, but it's tempting to give a lukewarm recommendation on the basis of its brilliant third-act climax and some truly bizarre imagery. For instance, the coterie of Westernized upper-class villains are depicted as weird automatons wearing gray pancake makeup, gallivanting around like 18th century naval officers. There's also a recurring visual motif of corrupted ancillary characters being framed by teeth from inside the villain's mouth. All the protracted dry-humping is given some panache by means of impressionistic rapid-fire montage involving ocean tides and other none-too-subtle liquid imagery, although MIDNIGHT COWBOY did…
