This is a moving fantasy, an idea of how empowering and positive life could be if children of color had the resources not just that white kids do, but that apparently film studios do. Elaborate choreography, multiple uniforms, and visual extravagance are on display from what are ostensibly middle class children, and a double dutch competition takes place in a major venue of some sort, not a smelly gym in a forgotten corner of a forgotten corner. Acrobatics impress the crowd instead of earning homophobic pejoratives; pacifistic defiance gains respect instead of opportunistic violence. Fathers bring unconditional love and accept heart breaking criticisms, and everything is safe and clean and interconnected.
